About me

I’m Paula, designer and maker at Sweet Somethings Cakes and I would love to help you to create your vision in cake. I love to create elegant, bespoke and of course delicious cakes and my background as a Fine Art graduate means that every cake I create gets that all important attention to detail, to make your cake cutting moment extra special.

What started as a hobby 23 years ago when I ‘borrowed’ my dad’s cake decorating equipment to make my daughters 1st birthday cake (a fairy toadstool) has taken over my life, and my kitchen. You could say baking and cake decorating is in my blood, as my dad was a trained chef, pastry chef and baker in his long naval career, and I remember the skill and patience as he practiced for his exams in pastry, creating delicate mille feuilles and elaborate fruit laden gateaux, so I have always had his expert tuition on hand. Dad never did get his equipment back!

I am fully registered with a food hygiene rating of 5 and hold both the level 2 food hygiene, and allergy training certification.
